Loral Skynet design, manufacture, launch and support there own fleet (Telstar) and third party media and communications satellites. Working as part of a busy team of engineers I helped support customers European networks in the Business Television and Communication Department. Daily responsibilities include telephone support, security authorizations, equipment configuration and repair, liaison with suppliers, organizing uplink and downlink capacity as well as coordinating engineers for repairs and routine maintenance. I also gained experience in Project Management of Installations, De-installations and Upgrades.

Contracted to Alcatel, I was working in the NOC of their Client ONI-Tel, managing their National Backbone and Metro Networks. Although the role was predominantly first and second line support, I worked closely with projects to upgrade to the new Alcatel 1650 and 1660 ADM´s and the integration of a DWDM backbone recently acquired from the former carrier Brisatel. As part of this small NOC with an informal but very proactive approach to operations and maintenance, I was again working with the 1353SH and 1354RM management tools and remedy Ticket system.

The National Operations Center monitors the UPC / Chello Telephony Data and Transport Networks. With the use of Lucent DWDM, Nortel SDH Backbone, Cisco Routing and Nortel DMS100 Switch, UPC provides Analogue and Digital cable Television, Internet and Telephone services to domestic and business customers as well as Leased Line and VPN services to larger clients and carriers throughout the Netherlands. I performed all of the usual operational and maintenance NOC responsibilities as part of a 24/7-shift team. Focused around significant re-structuring, relocation and the introduction of a ticketing system, I was again involved in the development of procedures and processes to improve the performance and quality of the department and its relationships with other areas and agencies.

As part of a 24/7 revolving shift system, my responsibilities were both administrative and technical. The administrative side included initiating, updating and closing; Trouble Ticket, Flash Report and Bulletin Board entries. The Technical work involves SDH and Environmental network alarm surveillance, priority attribution, 1st line diagnostics and providing first point of contact for field service and maintenance engineers. This requires me to have a working knowledge of Nortel (INM/Preside, TN4x, TN16x, TN64x, OPTera LH and MOR) Alcatel (UAE, 1641sx, 1664sm and DWDM) Ericsson (ETNA NEM and AXD 4/1-2) Netcool, Clearview, Scopus, F & E and RFTS network management tools.

As a member of the Regional Customer Services Team based in Lichfield, Staffordshire, I helped support the Eyretel range of voice/telephone recording equipment at over 200 sites across the UK. Eyretel specialize in providing telephone and voice recording, search and playback solutions. The skill set I have built-up over this time was quite diverse ranging from 386 / Dos / Windows, telephony integration, surveying, installations, sales demonstrations, post-sales support, Pentium / Windows NT, Access95/97, SQL and Ethernet Networking. Eyretel provides customer focused support, encourages excellent communication skills and the building of strong customer relationships as the key to successful support. HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

Any spare time I get is usually taken up traveling, surfing, motorcycling or SnowBoarding. I am a member of the Royal Yachting Association and have gained both 'Day Skipper' theory and practical qualifications whilst sailing.
I have held a Motorcycle license since I was 21and own several sports and classic machines including a rare Honda CB750 F2 SS Sealey Honda Britain
I am also a member of the British Sub Aqua Club, having been an active Dive Leader for just over seven years now.
